Es perllongava el plaer. Haurien volgut que duràs una eternitat, perquè l’eternitat existeix, precisament, en l’abraçada. Tornaven a besar-se i els llavis tenien un punt sangonós, amarg. Entrellaçats els cossos, pensaven que no podia ser, que era impossible. La felicitat costa de reconèixer, quan ens ofereix el rostre de ple. En el primer moment, no ens ho acabam de creure. Ells es miraven als ulls i es preguntaven on era la poca fe d’abans. S’havia fos en l’aire. Entre els llençols humits d’efluvis, constataven que tot succeïa d’una manera molt elemental. El desig s’imposava als pensaments, a les paraules, a les normes. No hi havia res al món que tengués aquella força. […]

Descobriren que estimar-se era una forma d’existir distinta. Ja no tenien un cos que els delimitava, amb el qual es reconeixien en un mirall, o en les pupil·les de la gent, sinó que el seu cos era el de l’altre. […] Estimar-se era sentir amb la pròpia pell i amb la pell de l’altre. Cobdiciar els instants, perquè no hi havia temps a perdre en el no-res. […] Tot es deturava, quan es trobaven. Després d’una delectosa setmana de lectura intensa, he acabat el llibre. El final no m’ha entusiasmat, però potser és que sempre espere finals espectaculars que m’emocionen. La resta del llibre m’ha agradat moltíssim, i el llenguatge clarament expressiu i descriptiu (com es pot veure al fragment que he copiat dalt) m’ha capficat dins la història com si fóra la de la meua vida.
